Elections BC announced today that a petition will be issued on April 15th to recall Marc Dalton, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Maple Ridge-Mission.
This is the second time in 4 years that Mr. Dalton has faced a recall petition, In 2011, the Fight HST group fell short of the number of signatures required.
The proponent of the recall this time around is Yvonne Hale.
For the recall petition to be successful the proponent must collect the signatures of 40% of the registered voters in the electoral district from the last election. In Maple Ridge-Mission, there were 38,523 registered voters on May 14, 2013, which means that 15,410 or more valid signatures must be submitted by June 15th for the petition to succeed.
If the recall petition is successful a by-election will be called.
