Elections Nova Scotia Announces Compliance Agreement with Candidate

Elections Nova Scotia has announced that it has entered into a compliance agreement with Sterling Belliveau, the NDP candidate for Queens-Shelbourne.

According to section 204 of the Elections Act (Nova Scotia), prospective candidates are prohibited from incurring expenses in consequence of an election until they are confirmed as registered candidates.

Mr. Belliveau admitted erecting campaign signs and opening a campaign office before receiving his confirmation of registration, and agreed to enter into the compliance agreement with Elections Nova Scotia.
