The date of the 2015 territorial general election has been moved from October 5th to November 23rd.
The election has been moved back 7 weeks in order to avoid a conflict with the federal election, which is currently scheduled for October 19th.
The Northwest Territories has fixed election date legislation. Seeking to avoid a federal and territorial election campaign at the same time, the legislature passed the 2015 Polling Day Act. This Act required the change of election date if the territorial and federal election period were still overlapping as of April 1, 2015.
